Among the five models that is confirmed by Volvo during the announcement of their 2024 financial results, the newly-refreshed 2025 Volvo XC60 is now revealed to be one of them. The new facelift sees styling elements and a new infotainment system that is lifted from the bigger Volvo XC90.
Despite its fully electric counterpart, the Volvo EX60, being well on its way for its 2026 launch date – plus a test mule to be built this year – the eight-year-old XC60 is still the Swedish carmaker’s bestselling SUV in dire need of an update – especially if the XC60 were to remain on sale for the foreseeable future alongside the EV.
To keep the XC60 up with the times, Volvo has given the SUV a mild exterior redesign, most notably a new front grille sporting a new diagonal mesh, bearing a passing resemblance to the new BMW iX. It’ll also get some new wheel options to go with it, plus the tail lights have also been given the smoked glass treatment to make the light signature appear more prominent.
There will also be three new exterior colours added into the 2025 Volvo XC60’s library: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red, the first two being completely new hues from Volvo.

The inside of the 2025 Volvo XC60 sees the same treatment found in the recently-updated XC90. The outgoing nine-inch touchscreen is now replaced with a tablet-sized 11.2-inch touchscreen, now equipped with upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit chipset. Volvo boasts sharper imagery on the screen thanks to the 21% improvement in pixel density.
It’ll also run on the marque’s latest Google Built-In infotainment user interface, first seen on the Volvo EX30. The new infotainment software is part of a wider rollout this year for all Volvo Cars going as far back as 2020, which will all receive the update via over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Volvo also claims that the SUV’s cabin is now even quieter and more comfortable, thanks to the new laminated windows and optional air suspension.
For now, the changes stop right here. Volvo hasn’t said anything about a new power unit in the XC60, and it will most likely remain the same as its existing line-up. On the petrol side, it’ll see a 2.0-litre inline-four petrol engine paired with various levels of electric assistance and forced induction, to be available in three different configurations.
The base B5 AWD variant is capable of 250 hp and 360 Nm of torque with a century time of 6.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the B6 AWD variants adds a supercharger on top of the turbocharger, bumping the number up to 300 hp and 420 Nm complete with a 6.2-second 0-100 km/h sprint.
The T6 and T8 AWD plug-in hybrid models will have the turbocharged engines equipped with e-boost. The T6 AWD variant has a max output of 253 hp and 350 Nm of torque, plus a 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds. The range-topping T8 AWD will have 310 hp and 400 Nm, and the fastest century sprint time of 4.9 seconds.
All variants are standard with all-wheel drive (AWD), which is mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Here in Malaysia, we have two versions of the Volvo XC60 available: The Volvo XC60 Essential mild hybrid variant, and Volvo XC60 Recharge Ultra plug-in hybrid variant.
The current Malaysian Volvo XC60 Essential mild hybrid variant is currently going for RM328,888, and with it comes 249 hp and 350 Nm of torque complete with a 6.9-second century sprint time. Meanwhile, the Volvo XC60 Recharge Ultra plug-in hybrid sports 317 hp and 400 Nm with a 4.1-second 0-100 km/h time. In addition, the hybrid battery pack is good for a 81 km range.
