Goodbye range anxiety, Jaecoo J7 PHEV with over 1,200 km of range is launching in Malaysia this month

First previewed in October 2024, the J7 PHEV is expected to be available in a single front-wheel-drive variant, with pricing estimated to start at RM170,000.

The Jaecoo J7 PHEV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four Miller-cycle engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and an 18.3 kWh battery pack. Combined, the system delivers 347 hp and 525 Nm.

Dubbed the “Super Hybrid System” by Jaecoo, the main highlight of this system is its ability to operate in both parallel and series hybrid configurations, as well as in fully-electric (EV) and pure engine drive modes.

Recently, Jaecoo Malaysia showcased the J7 PHEV’s capabilities by organising a cross-country drive from Singapore to Hat Yai, Thailand. Five Jaecoo J7 PHEVs completed the journey without needing to refuel or recharge, achieving a maximum range of 1,427.5 km

All five vehicles exceeded the official WLTP-rated range of 1,200 km. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV also recorded a maximum EV range of 108 km, surpassing the official range by 18 km.

These figures certainly sound exciting, and we won’t have to wait long before the official launch event which will happen soon this month. Stay tuned to our official coverage of the Jaecoo J7 PHEV launch!
