Alongside the unveiling of the BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport facelift and two locally assembled (CKD) models, the 530i M Sport and the 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4, BMW Group Malaysia announced today that it has sold over 11,900 cars in Malaysia in 2024 across the BMW (10,500 units) and MINI brands (1,400 units).
The group’s overall figures, inclusive of BMW Motorrad, stands at “over 13,500” vehicles delivered, with 66% of those being CKD models. Compared to the year before, BMW Group Malaysia’s 2024’s delivery numbers represent a 10% year-on-year drop from last year’s 15,012 units, and a roughly 12% fall in car sales.
That said, it seems Malaysians still really love their BMW SUVs, with the X-Series range racking up a total of 3,600 units delivered. Leading the charge was the locally-assembled X1 sDrive20i, which delivered 1,500 units. That’s a 195% jump compared to 2023 when it first hit the market.
The X4 xDrive30i M Sport Pro and the X5 xDrive50e M Sport also proved popular, with 700 and 400 units delivered respectively. Clearly, SUVs are a big hit with luxury car buyers in Malaysia.

The 3 Series also had a strong showing, with 2,700 units delivered in 2024. The 320i M Sport led the pack, retaining its top spot for the second year in row, with over 1,400 units delivered. The 5 Series also performed well, with 790 units delivered, thanks to the popular 520i.
MINI also had a great year in 2024, with 1,400 units delivered in Malaysia. The locally-assembled 2021 MINI Countryman led the way with 340 units delivered, followed closely by the all-electric (EV) MINI Countryman SE ALL4, which achieved over 320 deliveries in just seven months.
BMW Group Malaysia’s impact extends beyond its domestic sales. The group also exported over 11,000 vehicles to Thailand and the Philippines in 2024, solidifying its position as the region’s leading automotive exporter.
The regional aspirations are complemented by the recent expansion of its regional parts distribution centre (PDC) in Johor, in conjunction of its20th anniversary. The facility, now spanning 65,000 square meters, is the largest of its kind in the Asia Pacific region for the BMW Group, catering to the parts demands of over 20 countries.
BMW Group Malaysia has kicked off the year with the launch of the facelifted 2025 BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport. This all-electric sedan is priced at RM315,600 on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of the BMW Service & Repair package.
The updated EV now boasts a larger 70.3 kWh battery pack, extending its range to a WLTP-rated 500 km. It features a single rear motor producing 286 hp and 400 Nm.
In terms of charging specifications, the i4 eDrive35 M Sport supports 180 kW DC charging, allowing for a 10-80% charge in just 32 minutes. A quick 10-minute charge can provide up to 182 km of range.
