In a business briefing by BMW Group Malaysia today, it was revealed that 11,699 BMW cars were sold in Malaysia in 2023, marking a 1.3% decline from 2022. On the flipside, BMW Group Malaysia’s numbers are 3.8% up with 15,012 units delivered and this number includes sales from BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad.
BMW Group Malaysia also gave us a glimpse into the sales numbers of some of its popular models. In 2023, over 2,600 units of the new BMW 3 Series were sold and over 800 units of the 5 Series were sold. All of the X-series SUVs combined contributed to over 4,000 units sold.

BMW’s electrified cars also reported relatively high numbers with over 3,600 units sold. Over 1,100 units of the BMW iX were sold in 2023 and over 600 units of the BMW i7 were sold. Together with the encouraging EV sales figures, BMW Group Malaysia also announced that it has built a network of over 1,700 chargers nationwide.
BMW Group Malaysia says that it currently has nearly 30,000 electrified vehicles on our roads. It is also the leading premium electric vehicle provider in Malaysia.

As for the BMW M cars, it was reported that over 500 of them were sold last year. 2023 saw the launch of the new BMW M2 in Malaysia as well as the electric iX M60.
BMW Group’s performance in Malaysia reflects that of the brand’s global success with over 2,500,000 vehicles delivered across the BMW Group portfolio worldwide – a new all-time high sales record. The performance of electrified vehicles from the BMW Group portfolio also grew exponentially in 2023, attributing to 15% of overall BMW Group deliveries – underlining the pioneering role the premium automaker has in the electric vehicle segment worldwide.
