BMW Group Malaysia claims to have retained its title of the “number one Premium Electric Vehicle Provider” for 2024, after having delivered over 2,700 electric vehicles (EVs) across the BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad brands in the country last year.
That figure means that EVs accounted for 20.5% of BMW Group Malaysia’s total deliveries last year, out of a total of 13,500 units, adding to a total of nearly 33,000 units of EVs from BMW Group Malaysia on the road to date. It should be noted, however, that the figure is lower than the 3,600 units delivered in 2023.
While the company did not detail the model-to-model sales data, BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director, Benjamin Nagel revealed at a business briefing event today that the BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport has led the charge with over 460 units sold last year, followed closely by the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport (over 400 units), and the MINI Countryman SE ALL4 (over 320 units).
The Malaysian enthusiasm for BMW Group EVs correlates with the company’s global data, which saw a significant 13.5% growth in the EV segment with the delivery of over 426,000 EVs (including Rolls-Royce) last year, with BMW accounting for 368,000 (+11.6%) units, and MINI delivering 56,000 (+24.3%).

Aside from selling EVs, BMW Group Malaysia is also making new strides in expanding their EV charging infrastructure network. New EV charging facilities were opened in key locations throughout Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, and Pahang last year for peace of mind to EV owners during interstate travel.
Currently, BMW Group Malaysia has 2,020 available charging facilities in its network to customers. This is made through forging strategic partnerships with EV charging providers in Malaysia such as Gentari, ChargEV, Yinson Greentech, JomCharge, and more.
In addition, over 100 BMW i and Mini charging facilities are available in most authorised dealerships across the country, with more partnerships with other venues in Malaysia getting the same treatment in BMW Group Malaysia’s plans of their strategic infrastructure expansion plan for 2025 and beyond.
