Great Wall Motors Malaysia (GWM Malaysia) has officially launched the GWM Haval H6 HEV, priced at RM 139,800. The hybrid SUV is offered as a locally assembled (CKD) model, marking a significant milestone for GWM Malaysia as its first CKD model in the country. The Haval H6 HEV joins GWM’s growing line-up, which includes the Ora Good Cat, Ora 07 and, Tank 300.
With a length of 4,683 mm, width of 1,886 mm, and height of 1,724 mm, the GWM Haval H6 HEV is among the larger SUVs in its class, surpassing the Honda CR-V (4,623 mm) and Mazda CX-5 (4,550 mm) in length. The H6 HEV’s 2,738 mm wheelbase is also longer than all its competitors, including the Proton X70 (2,705 mm).
Under the hood of the H6 HEV is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) for a combined system output of 243 hp and 530 Nm. According to GWM, DHT “is a highly integrated, high-efficiency, multi-mode petrol-electric hybrid system with dual-motor hybrid technology to achieve an all-speed and all-scenario perfect balance between high efficiency and high performance.”
In practice, the system automatically switches between electric drive, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, or pure ICE drive modes, depending on driving conditions such as speed and power requirements between the engine and the 1.69 kWh battery onboard.
The front end of the Haval H6 HEV is dominated by a striking “Star Matrix” grille, featuring an intricate geometric pattern. This eye-catching design element is framed by sleek LED headlights, creating a distinctive and memorable face. The H6 HEV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, a horizontal light bar connects the taillights, emphasising the car’s width and adding a contemporary touch.
Other standard exterior equipment on the Haval H6 HEV include:
- LED headlights
- Horizontal LED trunk tail lights
- 19-inch alloy wheels
- Dual centre spoiler brake lights
Following the modern and sophisticated design of its exterior, the interior of the H6 HEV is dominated by a 12.3-inch central head unit that seamlessly integrates with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. A stylish four-spoke steering wheel adds a touch of sportiness, while the centre console features a rotary gear selector dial. The two-tier storage design in the centre console provides ample space for organising personal items and keeping the cabin clutter-free, a feature often found in premium vehicles.
Standard interior equipment of the 2024 GWM Haval H6 HEV include:
- 12.3-inch Infotainment display with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- 10.25-inch digital instrument panel
- Eight-speaker sound system
