UMW Toyota Motor sold 9,688 cars in March 2024, 30% up from February



UMW Toyota Motor ended March 2024 with a total sales figure of 9,688 units, 29.5% higher than it garnered in the past month. This consists of 9,471 units from Toyota models and 217 units from Lexus models. The brand’s year-to-date (YTD) figure as of March 2024 is 23,444 units, which is 7% lower than the same period it garnered last year and is reflective of the MAA projection of the passenger car total industry volume (TIV).

In its move towards sustainable mobility, UMW Toyota Motor has recently collaborated with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) by handing over a Toyota Mirai fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) in a groundbreaking ceremony. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to carbon neutrality, aligning with the nation’s Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).

The ceremony was graced by the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who experienced the demonstration firsthand by test-driving the Toyota Mirai alongside YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of MOSTI. With the handover of the Mirai, UMW Toyota Motor aims to support and demonstrate the viability, efficiency, and practicality of hydrogen-powered mobility solutions for the nation.

In the commercial sector, UMW Toyota Motor announced the pre-booking for the Toyota Hiace Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB) window van, which introduces the all-new generation of the Hiace van at a price of RM169,000. Essentially an extra-large version of the all-new Hiace, the SLWB version of the van can ferry 10 adults comfortably with space for overhead storage. It is powered by a 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbodiesel engine that produces 177 hp (metric) and 450 Nm.

As part of their commitment to enhancing the buying experience, UMW Toyota Motor introduced the “Kegembiraan Aidilfitri Bersama Toyota” promo for April 2024, offering customers up to 100% financing for selected models. Car buyers could enjoy broad promotional savings, including up to RM7,500 for the Yaris. The Toyota Service Savers program further offers convenient monthly instalments starting from as low as RM31.

Drawing nearly 6.2 million participants from over 100 countries since 2004, the contest highlights Toyota’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation among the youth. The global winners will be announced by Toyota Motor Corporation in June 2024, showcasing the imaginative talent of young minds worldwide.
