PSA: Are your cars under active recall? Toyota, Volkswagen, Kia models affected

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued the first list of active vehicle product recalls for 2024. This product recall list involves products of three carmakers, including Toyota, Volkswagen, and Kia, with a total of 36,871 vehicles being affected.

Affected Toyota models include the Toyota Sienta (model year 2016 to 2019), the Toyota Camry 2.5V AT (model year 2021 to 2023), the Toyota Veloz (model year 2022 to 2023), and the Toyota Vios (model year 2022 to 2023). Volkswagen models that are affected by the recall include the Passat 3C (model year 2019 to 2022), the Arteon (model year 2020 to 2023), and the Golf A8 (model year 2021 to 2024). There is only one Kia model involved in this product recall exercise, which is the Sportage (model year 2013 to 2015).

JPJ did not provide any reasons for the product recall involving the above Toyota, Volkswagen, and Kia models, but is encouraging owners of the affected models to adhere to the procedures set by the car manufacturers to have their car(s) inspected. This can be done by setting up an appointment with the carmaker or following the time frame set by the carmaker. Repair or spare part costs related to the recall exercise will also be fully covered by the respective carmakers.

Owners of the affected cars will be contacted by the respective carmakers via phone calls, messages, official letters, or social media announcements. You may also contact the respective carmakers should you have any enquiries regarding the recall exercise.
