Toyota was Malaysia’s best-selling non-national brand in 2023



UMW Toyota Motor has managed to retain its position as the top non-national automaker in Malaysia in 2023. Last year, the company managed to record a total sale of 108,107 units which includes both Toyota and Lexus models.

Compared to 2022 where 100,042 units were sold, UWM Toyota Motor saw an 8.06% growth in 2023. Continuing on the company’s success in 2023, January 2024 saw a total sale of 6,276 units (Toyota & Lexus).

The Toyota brand itself secured a 32% market share in the non-national passenger vehicle market. In the SUV segment, the brand sold 22,533 units which was a 19.6% non-national market share.

In the pickup truck segment, Toyota managed to secure a 47.2% non-national market share with 27,447 units registered. As for the panel van segment, Toyota boasts a 100% non-national market share with 3,424 units registered.

The company also expanded its footprint with the inauguration of a new 3S outlet in Nibong Tebal, Penang in the first week of February. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing customer service and accessibility in the region, aligning with UMWT’s commitment to providing an extensive and accessible network for its valued customers.
