Tesla begins deliveries of Tesla Model 3 in Malaysia

Tesla has begun delivering the first units of the Model 3 sedan here in Malaysia, in a delivery ceremony today held at its Cyberjaya Experience Centre. The event saw 20 customers receive the keys to their new car, with more units scheduled to be delivered over the coming days starting later today.

Alongside the handover event, Tesla Malaysia has also officially opened the doors to its latest service centre in Cyberjaya. The service centre spans an area of over 22,000 square feet, and offers 10 fully-equipped service bays, a dedicated parts warehouse, four Tesla Superchargers, and three AC charging outlets. Owners can schedule appointments directly through the Tesla mobile app, or via the 24/7 hotline.

The Tesla Model 3 first debuted in Malaysia in October this year, as one of the first countries to launch the facelifted Highland model. Two variants of the Tesla Model 3 are being offered in Malaysia, starting at a price of RM189,000.

At the low end is the Tesla Model 3 RWD, which packs a single motor on the rear axle for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.1 seconds, while offering a range of up to 513 km in a single charge. One rung higher is the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD, offering a larger battery and an additional electric motor for a range of 629 km, all-wheel drive, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 4.4 seconds.

The AWD variant also supports DC fast charging of up to 250 kW, which means in ideal conditions using the V3 Tesla Superchargers, it can gain up to 282 km of range in just 15 minutes. The RWD variant only supports up to 170 kW of DC power.

Although launched earlier this year, the Tesla Model Y is only scheduled to reach Malaysian shores early next year.
