Tesla Malaysia quietly discontinues Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive

Alongside the price announcement for the new Tesla Model Y L in Malaysia, priced from RM261,700, the company also quietly updated the local Model 3 lineup by discontinuing the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant. This variant was previously available from RM199,000, before options.

A cursory check on the Tesla Malaysia website confirms the shift as the Model 3 is now available in four variants rather than the previous five. When it was available, the Model 3 Long Range (AWD) offered a range of 660 km (WLTP) and achieved 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. In typical Tesla fashion, no detailed power specifications were officially disclosed.

This update leaves the Model 3 Performance as the only AWD model available in Malaysia. Priced from RM229,000, the Model 3 Performance offers 571 km (WLTP) of range and is capable of achieving the century dash in 3.1 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 261 km/h.

While the Model 3 range loses a variant, the local Tesla lineup gains the new six-seater Tesla Model Y L. It features a wheelbase extended by 150 mm and a roofline raised by 44 mm over the standard Model Y to accommodate a new 2+2+2 seating configuration.

This layout introduces two individual chairs in the second row, complete with power-retractable armrests and ventilation, and a new two-seater third row accessible via a central walkthrough aisle. Range-wise, the Model Y L offers 681 km (WLTP) and completes the century dash in 5.0 seconds.
