Smart Malaysia unveils new DC fast chargers at dealerships in preparation of #1 launch

IN preparation for the launch of its #1 electric SUV, Smart Malaysia is now further bolstering its EV charging network with the addition of several new DC fast chargers at its dealership outlets, in addition to the new 100 kW chargers at the Proton Centre of Excellence along the KESAS highway.

These locations include, Smart Glenmarie (EON Berhad) and Smart Ipoh (GB Ipoh) in the central region, both now equipped with new 60 kW DC chargers, as well as Smart Penang (Eleganz Lifestyle) up North, with a 120 kW DC fast charger making it the highest-powered charger in its network.

In addition, the company says that its outlets in Alor Setar (Lee Motors), Setia Alam (Wheelcorp EV), Johor Bahru (Motor Future), and Melaka (Sigma Energy EV) will also soon welcome new DC chargers (50 kW, 60 kW, and 120 kW) before the year-end.

According to a press release, Smart Malaysia says that these stations will soon be accessible to the general public, as part of its “unwavering dedication” to help deliver fast and efficient charging solutions, in line with the government’s goal of 10,000 charge points by 2025.

The company’s recent update to the Hello Smart app added the ability for customers to access real-time availability information on chargers in Malaysia, thanks to its collaboration with various charge point operators in Malaysia including ChargeEV, Gentari, and JomCharge. Roughly 70% of public chargers are now already integrated directly into the mobile app.

In the near future, users will also have the ability to make payments for charging services directly through the app, the company says in a press release.
