Long after being teased for Malaysians, Smart Malaysia has finally confirmed the price range for the Smart #1, which is set to launch in the fourth quarter of the year. The price of the Smart #1 is confirmed to be from RM200,000 to RM250,000 for the three variants that it will be offered. Yes, Smart Malaysia has added another variant to the Smart #1 line up and it is the base “Pro” variant. The three variants confirmed now are the Pro, Premium, and Brabus.
Smart Malaysia has previously opened bookings for the Smart #1 (with a RM1,000 refundable booking deposit) and is now offering even more attractive perks to go with it. The first 501 pre-order customers will be entitled to RM1,001 worth of EV charging credits via the Hello Smart mobile application. Through the Hello Smart app, customers can access more than 70% of public charging locations available.

If you’re not familiar with the Smart #1, it is the revival of the Smart brand which is now owned by Mercedes-Benz and Geely Holding. The Smart #1 is built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform which also underpins the Volvo EX30 and the Zeekr X.
Previously Smart Malaysia only previewed the Smart #1 Premium and the Smart #1 Brabus to local media outlets. A small surprise by Smart Malaysia is the introduction of the “Pro” variant for the Malaysian market (perhaps to provide a more competitive price for the variant line up). A brief overview of all the three Smart #1 variants can be seen in the table below:
Smart #1 Pro | Smart #1 Premium | Smart #1 Brabus | |

In terms of technical specifications, the Pro is very much similar to the Premium with the exception of its shorter range despite the same battery size. This is because the Premium variant uses a silicon-carbide-technology inverter while the Pro doesn’t.

Exterior colour offerings for the smart #1 Pro come in Digital White, Laser Red, Cyber Silver, Quantum Blue, and Future Green. In addition to the five original colors, the smart #1 Premium also offers Atom Grey – Matte and Lumen Yellow. As for the interior upholstery, the smart #1 Pro features the standard “After Dark” trim, while Premium variants come in a two-tone white and black “Dark Matter” trim, and both feature the Eclipse Black Roof except for the Atom Grey – Matte option which is comes with a body coloured roof.
The Smart #1 joins the plethora of electric vehicles (EVs) that have been launched in Malaysia this year. Will it just be another forgettable addition to the EV options in Malaysia or will it stand out in the sea of lithium ion batteries?
