The Smart Concept #2 is a designer handbag you could drive

The Smart Concept #2 made its world debut at Auto China 2026, and photos do not do justice to how tiny this car is. In real life, it is smaller than it looks, resembling a designer handbag you could drive.

Measuring 2.79 metres in length, you can park two of these within the wheelbase of Smart’s largest car, the Smart #6, which has a wheelbase of 4.9 metres. Bolstering its compact dimensions, the Concept #2 is said to have a turning radius of under seven metres, making it quite manoeuvrable around tight streets.

Its cutesy exterior is designed by Mercedes-Benz and features elements that make it look more like a handbag accessory, with its front grille containing leather straps and an embossed trim piece with the Smart emblem.

Lighting elements are futuristic, with the headlights and taillights containing the ‘+’ symbol, and there are even LED lighting elements on the front and rear bumper that can display messages.

The interior of the Smart Concept #2 remains hidden for the time being, but with two doors, the production version will likely be a two-seater, much like the original Smart Fortwo.

The Concept #2 utilises Smart’s Electric Compact Architecture (ECA). While complete specifications remain undisclosed, the company boasts a range of up to 300 km, approximately double that of the Smart EQ Fortwo. It is also claimed to support a 10-80% recharge in 20 minutes. Furthermore, it features vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, enabling the car to power external devices while on the move.
