Kia Carnival facelift unveiled – Hybrid 1.6L turbo version to debut

After about three years since it made its global debut, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival is getting a facelift. Kia has so far unveiled the exterior design of the Kia Carnival facelift and more details will be made available soon. What’s most interesting about the Carnival Facelift is that it will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

This facelift of the fourth-generation Carnival introduces a fresh new look. As usual, Kia incorporates its “Opposites United’ design philosophy and the Carnival gets a touch of ‘Modern Boldness’ as well. Intangible philosophies aside, the new Carnival sports a new headlight and grille design which is more in tune with the look of the Kia EV9.

The new Carnival’s headlights feature a vertical element on the outer sides that is joined with the vertical element on the top part. The front grille is as prominent as before, albeit with a different design approach. All else, it pretty much shares the same underpinnings as its predecessor.

Around the back, the new Kia Carnival’s taillights have been added with vertical elements on the outer edges. Kia has also moved the rear plate downwards and removed the exposed tailgate handle to create a wider- and cleaner-looking tailgate. The black claddings have also gained more presence in this facelift.

Upon it launch, the Kia Carnival will be made available with a ‘Gravity’ trim as well that features a special grille, wheels, and dark metallic trims (roof rack, C-pillar, tailgate, door garnish, front skid plate, and rear skid plate).

Kia has yet to reveal the full powertrain details of the new Carnival but has already announced that there will be 3 types of powertrains – gasoline, diesel, and hybrid. The hybrid version will feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine.

In Malaysia, the pre-facelift fourth-generation Kia Carnival is offered in 4 versions – 2.2D 11-seater, 2.2D 8-seater Mid, 2.2D 8-seater High, and 2.2D 7-seater High. Prices start at RM199,840.80 and top off at RM263,988.80.

In a press statement, a Kia official said, “The Carnival is a model that has maintained its status as an unrivaled family car for a long time based on its marketability specialized for family customers,” and added, “We plan to disclose detailed information and prices on the marketability of The New Carnival in line with the pre-order period next month.”
