UMW Toyota Motor records 6% sales jump in 1H 2023 – 8,669 Toyota, Lexus vehicles sold in June

UMW Toyota Motor has announced its sales report for the month of June 2023, in which it recorded 8,559 units of Toyota and 110 units of Lexus vehicles sold, for a combined total sales of 8,669 units. That figure translates to an 8.3% increase over May 2023, with most of the rise stemming from the Toyota brand.

With the June figures accounted for, the company’s year-to-date sales data now stands at 48,659 units as of June 2023, which represents a significant 6% increase compared to the same period last year (45,911 units).

The company did not provide a detailed breakdown on its per-model sales numbers, merely highlighting the launch of the all-new Toyota Innova Zenix in Malaysia in June. It’s unlikely that the MPV contributed much to the sales increase, however, as it only made its local debut in the tail end of the month.

In line with UMW Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy, the all-new 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix is offered in both internal combustion engine- and hybrid-powered guises. The former features a new 2.0-litre Dynamic Force naturally-aspirated inline-four engine making 174 hp and 205 Nm, while the latter tacks on an additional electric motor for a total system output of 186 hp.

Additionally, the company also announced the opening of the order books in Malaysia for the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, just two weeks after the luxury MPV duos made their global debut. The all-new tauke-mobile duo is estimated to be priced from RM538,000 and RM438,000, for the Alphard 2.4T Executive Lounge and Vellfire 2.5 respectively.
