Toyota GR Vios Challenge returns for Round 2 this weekend under Sepang night lights

The Toyota GR Vios Challenge, as part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival, is set to return for Round 2 this weekend, from 3-4 June, under the floodlights of the Sepang International Circuit. Similar to Round 1, the night race will also be streamed exclusively online, across all Toyota Gazoo Racing Malaysia’s social media platform and on its website (linked here).

Now in its sixth season, the 2023 Toyota GR Vios Challenge sees 45 drivers competing across four classes, ranging from Super Sporting for the professional racers, to the Promotional Class where local celebrities duel it out against each other on track.

With no clear favourites emerging from the field just yet at the halfway point of the season, drivers and teams will all be vying to amass as many valuable points as they can before the championship finale in September, making this race a definite spectacle for racing fans.

“The excitement of the GR Vios Challenge is in its unpredictability – no one, no matter in which class they are in, has a clear advantage because they are all competing on a level playing field (one make race),” said UMW Toyota Motor President, Ravindran K.

“As we’ve seen in seasons one through five, the fight for the championship will always be decided at the very end and the live stream of the racing action will ensure that spectators will not miss out on any of the battles on track.”

The live stream will kick off at 6.30 pm on both days with jam-packed racing action starting with the sporting class. Viewers will also be treated to special performances by local celebrities Janna Nick (Saturday) and Khai Bahar (Sunday).

Round 1 of the GR Vios Challenge saw a total of 3.5 million online viewers across all platforms, making it one of the most viewed racing series in the country.
