Video: Toyota Veloz 7-seater MPV, the Alza’s more ‘atas’ twin brother from RM95k!

If you like the Alza, but think it’s just not quite up to your premium tastes, good news – because the all-new Toyota Veloz is here to fill that gap. The Alza’s premium twin does come at a cost, but you do get quite a bit of extras for the RM20,000 more you’ll be paying.

Just by looks alone, the Toyota Veloz already feels more premium. The unique front fascia with its generous use of chrome and a more prominent grille gives the seven-seater MPV a more upmarket look, while the taller ride height and low-profile roof rails also emphasises on its more SUV-like stature.

The Veloz also gets a set of larger, more premium-looking 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, while the tail lights also stand out with a model-exclusive full-width treatment.

Inside, the Toyota Veloz does look a lot more similar to the Alza, although its premium aptitude is still apparent thanks to the black-and-white colour combination, along with semi-leather upholstery, “blueish” ambient lighting, and additional soft-touch paddings on the interior panels.

The Veloz also gains several additional features, including a new wireless charging pad on the centre console, alongside an automatic climate control system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as opposed to just wired on the Alza. The screens are still the same size, however.

The complete powertrain is also shared between the two, consisting of a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine and a D-CVT gearbox, sending 105 hp and 138 Nm to the front wheels.
