Although not officially open for booking just yet, Dinamikjaya Motor has put the locally-assembled (CKD) 2022 Kia Carnival on a preview over the weekend, with pricing information for the MPV now available.
The new CKD 2022 Kia Carnival will be offered in three different variants, in seven- and eight-seater guises as opposed to the 11-seater layout that was standard on the existing fully-imported model, and are priced as follows (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of SST):
- 2.2D 8-Seater – RM 231,228
- 2.2D 8-Seater ‘High’ – RM 247,228
- 2.2D 7-seater ‘High’ – RM 261,228
As previously reported, the pricing is indeed higher than the existing fully-imported counterpart, as the latter benefitted from preferential taxation status with the 11-seater being categorised as commercial vehicle.
At least, you do get a couple of extra standard equipment to help make up for the steep price increase, including a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in place of the analogue unit of the imported model, new LED tail lights, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, as well as the Kia Drive Wise suite of advanced driver assistance systems, depending on variant.
The latter, said to be exclusive to the High variants, will come with features such as autonomous emergency braking with cross traffic detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, lane centring and lane keeping assist, blind spot and rear cross traffic collision avoidance, as well as automatic high beam.
While detailed specifications will have to wait until closer to the official launch, we do know that the existing 2.2-litre turbodiesel mill will be retained on the 2022 CKD Kia Carnival, which makes 202 hp and 440 Nm to drive the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
