Mercedes-Benz Malaysia hosted largest AMG gathering – special appearance by AMG GT Black Series

Last week, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia welcomed not one but two new additions to their AMG lineup. The new arrivals from the AMG 35 series in Malaysia were the updated AMG A35 4MATIC sedan which was introduced in 2019 and the new AMG GLA35 4MATIC.

Both produced 306 hp and 400 Nm from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and although both had all-wheel drive, the GLA35 is fitted with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission while the A35 sedan has a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. 0 to 100 km/h in the GLA35 takes 5.2 seconds, with the A35 sedan doing it 0.4 seconds quicker.

That’s not all; at the launch of the new AMG 35s, there was also a special appearance by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. It’s one of 13 units allocated for the Malaysian market, with the rest all sold out. The AMG GT Black Series was once the fastest road-legal car to lap the Nurburgring in 2020.

Making it three for three was a gathering by members of the AMG Owner’s Club of Malaysia. As you’d expect, in typical AMG extravagance, this was no casual gathering as more than 180 Mercedes-AMG vehicles showed up to the event – making it the largest gathering of AMG cars in Malaysia. Members were also treated to track sessions and test drives of the new AMG arrivals, of course.

“We are beyond excited to have the AMG Track Day return in 2022. It was a privilege to have our customers and prospective customers out here with us, immersing ourselves in the Ultimate Driving Performance. We are grateful to our partner the AMG Owners Club of Malaysia (AOCM) for supporting this event,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Michael Jopp.
