Honda Malaysia appoints Hironobu Yoshimura as new managing director and CEO

Honda Malaysia has announced the appointment Hironobu Yoshimura as its new managing director and CEO, who has assumed office since April 1, 2022. Yoshimura succeeds Madoka Chujo, who will be heading back to Japan to take on a new role within Honda Motor Company’s automobile operations sales supervisory unit.

Yoshimura brings with him 34 years of experience, with a particular expertise in the areas of corporate planning, business planning, marketing, as well as aftersales services. Prior to his new positions in Malaysia, he served as the president and CEO of Honda Atlas Cars in Pakistan, and has also held key roles in other countries like Japan and Thailand.

Commenting on his new role at Honda Malaysia, Mr. Yoshimura said, “I am excited to take up this new role at Honda Malaysia. This unique and diverse nation is truly an important market in the Asia and Oceania region for us at Honda. My predecessors have built the Honda brand to become the success that it is now in Malaysia; as the forerunner in introducing Honda’s advance technology in the region, launching exciting new models and leading the Non-National Passenger Vehicle segment for many years.

“Most importantly, Honda Malaysia has persevered through and overcame many challenges over the years. I look forward to leading the Company in a post-pandemic business environment and to contribute positively towards the growth of the company,” he added.

Yoshimura’s predecessor, Chujo, joined Honda Malaysia just a year ago in April 2021. Despite her short tenure as Managing Director and CEO, she helped lead the company to several significant milestones, including the launch of the all-new City Hatchback and Civic sedan, as well as achieve the No. 1 position in the non-national passenger car segment for the eighth consecutive year since 2014.

Just last month, Chujo also oversaw the company’s one millionth production unit at its assembly plant here in Pegoh, Melaka.

Just five days into the new role, Yoshimura has already dived straight in on his responsibilities, starting with the company’s sales performance for the first quarter of 2022. “I am also pleased to share that based on our internal data, three Honda models have ranked No.1 in their respective segments for Quarter 1 of 2022. The models are City, All-New City Hatchback and All-New Civic,” he said.
