Video: 2021 Hyundai Palisade launched in Malaysia from RM328k, 5 Things

Hyundai Sime Darby Motors has just introduced the Hyundai Palisade in Malaysia with two engine options across four variants.

It will be powered either by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 or a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine just like the 7-seater Santa Fe we reviewed recently. Both engines are paired to a 8-speed automatic transmission.

Prices start from RM328,888 for the 8-seater diesel (Exec 8), RM338,888 for the 8-seater V6 (Luxe 8), RM348,888 for the 7-seater Diesel (Exec 7), and RM358,888 for the 7-seater V6 (Luxe 7).

Price-wise, it’s comparable to the updated CX-9, Hyundai’s very own Staria MPV, but cost less than a Volvo XC90. What are you getting for the money then?

There’s wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, dual sunroof, 7x USB ports, along with a choice of three different interior colour schemes, ventilated seats, and wireless charging on board.

As for safety, six airbags and features like the blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the variants but the Hyundai Smart Sense system is only available in the V8 models. It includes high beam assist, forward collision warning and avoidance, rear cross-traffic alert with autonomous braking, smart cruise control, lane keep, and lane following assist.
