Proton sold over 100,000 Sagas since launch of facelift in 2019

Proton makes 1st-time car ownership more affordable for fresh graduates

It’s only been a little over two years since Proton unveiled the facelifted Saga back in 2019, but the national carmaker has announced that they’ve now sold 100,999 units of the updated A-segment sedan.

For those counting, that averages to nearly 3,400 units per month – which in itself is a pretty impressive feat, but even more so when you consider that nearly the entirety of that timeframe is affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The achievement is helped by Proton’s sales performance last month, which included deliveries of 5,666 units of the Proton Saga. That figure not only bested the Perodua Bezza as the best-selling A-segment sedan in Malaysia, but was also the best-selling model overall in November.

The Proton Saga facelift was launched in 2019 with a plethora of upgrades, including a refreshed exterior with modern Proton touches, a new Android-based touchscreen infotainment display, plus a new Hyundai-sourced 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Its engine, however, is unchanged from before. Under the hood rests the same 1.3-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder mill that makes 95 hp and 120 Nm of torque.
