JPJ extends deadline for summon discounts to the 31st of December

The Road Transport Department or JPJ has announced the extension of the deadline for the “promotion” on summonses to the end of the month, now in sync with PDRM’s. This is the second extension, after the first which supposedly ends today.

To recap, entitled summonses (that are compoundable) will be offered up to a discount of 80%. Payment of the summons can be transacted at all JPJ offices nationwide, kiosks, mobile JPJ counters, UTC premises as well as online through the MySikap JPJ portal. Physical counters mentioned above are open from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. and inclusive of weekends.

However, a scheduled maintenance activity on the MySikap JPJ system has been earmarked for this weekend, thus, all JPJ counters nationwide will be closed this Saturday, December 18th.

The promotion to encourage road users to settle their unpaid summonses was first touted in conjunction with the government’s “100-Hari Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia” (AKM) programme that was held in KLCC over the weekend of December 9th to 12th.

In the accompanying press statement, the JPJ announced the collection of RM4,126,938 via settlement of 81,146 summonses from December 9th to the 14th. Out of that figure, 11,113 transactions were done online.

The JPJ also earlier reminded vehicle owners to renew their expired road tax and driving licences before the end of the year as the Ministry of Transport is no longer extending the deadline that was announced in September. These renewals can be done at Pos Malaysia, Puspakom as well as through MyEG web portal.

Currently, the department has also set up ‘Ops Sedar’ roadblocks around the country to nab road users with uninsured vehicles.
