Video: All-new 2022 Kia Carnival previewed in Malaysia, first look

MPVs are truly making a comeback. The all-new Hyundai Staria was just launched here in Malaysia just about a month ago, and now, its other South Korean cousin is also making its debut in our side of the world. Need to ferry around a football team frequently? Then join us as we take a closer look at the all-new 2022 Kia Carnival that was previewed to the public over the weekend!

The all-new Kia Carnival will be the first Kia model to be introduced in our country after Bermaz Auto took over distributorship of the franchise here in Malaysia. A CKD version of the people mover has been planned, but due to Covid-19 related delays, the model will be introduced as a CBU model at launch.

Only the 11-seater variant will be offered for now, with three rows of seats at the rear passenger compartment. It’s powered by a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine making 199 hp and 440 Nm of torque, with power sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of equipment appointments, the all-new Carnival comes as standard with fully-LED headlights and tail lights, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, tri-zone climate control (two for front, one for back), powered tailgate, and Smart powered sliding doors on both sides.

Advanced safety features, however, are somewhat lacking on this CBU model, with the only one present here being the blind-spot monitoring system with rear-cross traffic assist.

The all-new Kia Carnival is now open for booking, although pricing information will only be provided nearer to its official launch, early next year.
