Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the new sole distributor for the Kia brand in Malaysia, is proud to announce that they have started to accept bookings for the all-new Kia Carnival. No price has been formally communicated, with the brand and the new MPV scheduled to make its public debut in Malaysia at this weekend’s Drive Auto Fair at the Setia City Convention Centre.

Similar to the outgoing Kia Carnival, this fourth-generation multi-row window van will continue to be powered by the 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel unit generating 199 hp and 440 Nm of torque. A new 8-speed automatic transmission not only provides better driving response but also sees improved fuel consumption, registering 6.5 litres of B7-grade diesel per 100 km travelled.

Based on the specification sheet provided by Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd and Bermaz Auto, only one variant is available, and it’s quite generously equipped. For the exterior, LED lights are standard, with a pair of uniquely placed LED high beam lighting units inserted within the corners of the ‘Tiger-nose’ grille.

Smart dual-powered sliding doors, as well as smart powered tailgate, are standard features, together with rain-sensing wipers, roof rails and 18-inch rims wrapped with 235/60R18 tyres. Kia now emphasises the upper half of the vehicle or ‘Island Roof’, with additional individual styling on the C-pillars that are finished in a subtle diamond pattern.

Inside, the all-new Kia Carnival offers seating for up to 11 occupants, including the driver. That means all three rows of the Kia Carnival can accommodate three passengers! The smaller middle seats can also be folded to make a walk-through aisle to the fourth row.

The innovative feature on the fourth row is the ability to completely hide when not in use. The entire seating assembly- the seatback and bench, sinks into the floor, creating a large luggage area for the travelling of eight occupants.

Key comfort features in the large MPV include three-zone air-conditioning, manual sunshades for the second and third rows, seven USB ports, a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity as well as a wireless charger. For comparison, the range-topping SXL variant in Thailand offers ventilation feature for the front seats plus memory function.

At the safety front, the all-new Kia Carnival will be fitted with seven airbags, inclusive of a driver’s knee airbag. The fitment of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic assist and surround-view monitor system.

As mentioned earlier, the price of the all-new Kia Carnival that is fully imported from South Korea is not announced yet. The large MPV will be previewed at the Drive Auto Fair at the Setia City Convention Centre, Selangor from December 3rd to 5th.
