Toyota reproduces new spare parts for ‘Initial D’ icon AE86

Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced that it will be reproducing spare parts for the iconic AE86 Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno.

The company will be reproducing spare parts which were previously discontinued and selling them as genuine parts. They include the rear driveshaft, the rear brake caliper, and the steering knuckle arm.

These parts will be sold domestically and to foreign markets from the 1st of November onwards, under the GR Heritage Parts project. Production of the AE86 ceased over 30 years ago and is affectionately known in Japan as the “hachi-roku” which means “eight-six”.

In case you aren’t aware, the Levin and Trueno are the “sports models” in the Corolla and Sprinter series. Only vehicles equipped with the legendary 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve engine (codenamed 4A-GEU) were given the “AE86” designation.

That being said, Toyota highlighted that the AE86 spare parts will only be reproduced for a limited time period with the cooperation of its suppliers so stocks will be limited nonetheless.

More details such as part number and production period will be released on the Toyota Gazoo Racing website from the 1st of November onwards.
