Denza Malaysia announced the opening of registration of interest (ROI) for the all-new Denza Z9 GT via its social media page, hinting at a local market launch happening in the near future.
A right-hand drive unit of the Z9 GT was previewed at the Sime Darby Motors MotorExpo 2026 in early June. While the car was cordoned off with the interior inaccessible, the preview unit strongly suggested that we would be on the receiving end of the fully-electric (EV) variants. This is due to the car featuring a single flap on its rear quarter panel, instead of the PHEV variants, which have two flaps.
On the EV front, the Denza Z9 GT is available in two powertrains. The range starts with a rear-wheel drive setup making 503 hp (370 kW) and 500 Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. This variant can be paired with either a 102.3 kWh or 122.5 kWh battery, offering a driving range of 880 km and 1,034 km, respectively, according to the optimistic CLTC test cycle.
The range-topping EV variant of the Z9 GT packs 1,156 hp (850 kW) and 1,210 Nm from an all-wheel drive powertrain. This enables a back-breaking 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.7 seconds, and a range of 820 km (CLTC) from a 122.5 kWh battery.
With a powertrain pushing over 1,000 horsepower, the Denza Z9 GT is slated to be one of the very few cars you can buy with a shooting brake body style, making it the first EV locally with such a body profile. It measures nearly 5.2 metres in length and nearly two metres in width, alongside a 3,125 mm wheelbase, so buyers can expect a spacious interior.

Paired with standard dual-chamber air suspension for better driving dynamics and comfort, the Z9 GT can lower itself by 50 mm. If you thought manoeuvring a five-metre long car would be tedious, Denza thought of your pains. They equipped the Z9 GT with rear-wheel steering, which enables up to 20 degrees of rotation and reduces the turning radius to 4.62 metres.
Another party trick is the ‘crab walk’ function, which allows it to drive sideways and do a 360-degree turn on the spot, similar to the electric G-Wagen’s G-turn feature. It remains to be seen if these features will be available on the Malaysian-bound model.
Fancy drivetrain features aside, the interior of the Denza Z9 GT is equipped with a triple-screen layout, featuring dual 13.2-inch displays for the driver and front passenger, paired with a 17.3-inch floating central touchscreen. This looks highly likely to be featured in the car when it launches in Malaysia, as the display car showcased a similar interior setup finished with white upholstery.
For safety, the Denza Z9 GT is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye B ADAS system, which features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, 12 ultrasonic radars, three millimetre-wave radars, and 11 cameras. Together, these components enable semi-autonomous driving functions such as city navigation assist, high-speed navigation assist, and parking-to-parking navigation assist.
However, because these features are currently calibrated for China, it remains to be seen whether the Malaysian-spec Denza Z9 GT will retain the full software suite. That said, the presence of a LiDAR sensor on the show car certainly suggests local buyers can remain hopeful.
Denza Malaysia did not provide any indicative pricing for the Z9 GT, but looking at the Denza B8 with its price tag of RM459,939 to RM519,939, we guess this luxury wagon could easily command a price premium over its SUV sibling. We will simply have to wait for its official market debut to know for sure.
