Toyota GR Supra updated with Apple CarPlay – price unchanged at RM590k

UMW Toyota has just announced a new updated for the Toyota GR Supra here in Malaysia, with the sole upgrade being the addition of Apple CarPlay on the infotainment system.

The update is the second the GR Supra’s received since its launch here back in 2019; the first being a performance upgrade last year, which saw the power output from the 3.0-litre turbocharge inline-six engine bumped up to 388 hp and 500 Nm.

The addition of Apple CarPlay, albeit a basic wired one, is a welcome move on the Toyota GR Supra – especially since BMW (who makes the Supra) still charges a RM1,299 one-time fee to activate the feature on their cars here in Malaysia.

Android users are out of luck this time round, however, as Android Auto is still not available on the Toyota GR Supra – a feature that’s also unavailable globally.

Otherwise, the Toyota GR Supra remains identical to the existing model in Malaysia, including all the standard equipment from before such as the 8.8-inch touchscreen display with touchpad remote, built-in navigation, and a 12-speaker JBL HiFi Surround Sound System.

The Toyota GR Supra’s advanced safety kit is also unchanged. Features include Forward Collision Warning; Lane Departure Alert; Adaptive Cruise Control (All-Speed); Adaptive High Beam System; and Road Sign Assist.

Legoland Japan built a full-sized Toyota Supra replica that can even be driven at up to 28 km/h! Check it out here.

The updated Toyota GR Supra is priced at RM589,987 on the road and without insurance, which is unchanged from before. The price also includes the 50% sales tax exemptions for fully-imported models, valid until the end of 2021.

Interested customers can place a booking for the new GR Supra at selected authorized Toyota GR Garage showrooms nationwide. The full list of GR Garage showrooms is available here.
