Win RM70k worth of prizes by participating in the new Michelin Virtual Racing Series!

Sim racing has shot up in popularity recently, ever since the stay-at-home orders came into effect globally last year – heck, it’s even an Olympic sport now! If you’ve been keeping up with the proper SOPs, chances are you’re probably a pretty good racer by now – so why not show off your skills in the new Michelin Virtual Racing Series?

The new sim racing series by Michelin Malaysia will run from now until mid-July, starting off with a time trial event until 11:59 pm on June 27. From there, the top-94 participants with the fastest times will move on to verification time trials, and after that onward to the knockout rounds split into Advanced and Expert classes. Grand Finals will be held on the 18th of July.

The Michelin Virtual Racing Series is open to all residents of Malaysia, and the best part is that you don’t even need to win to receive prizes! The first 1,000 participants to successfully register will each receive one Michelin exclusive merchandise, and if you make it to the top 24 in each category, you’ll also take home a full set of merchandises.

Those placed from fourth to 12th in either categories will also be walking away with a set of Michelin passenger car tyres of up to 16-inches in diameter, but it’s the top three places (obviously) that get the most goodies – a set of tyres of any diameter, a Michelin office chair, and cash prizes of RM500, RM1,500, and RM3,000 for third, second, and first place respectively.

Additionally, there’s also a Best Livery Challenge, where the winner will take home a set of Michelin tyres (up to 16 inches), alongside Michelin merchandises!

Michelin has a strong presence globally in the sim racing scene, but the Michelin Virtual Racing Series 2021 is actually the brand’s first endeavour into the local e-sports industry here in Malaysia, as part of its new Motion for Life brand direction celebrating all-inclusive mobility.

Michelin Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Managing Director, Oliver Biggart said, “As an active supporter of the e-sports and e-gaming industry on a global level, we are proud to channel our support locally as well, with the first-ever Michelin Virtual Racing Series in Malaysia.

“In Motion for Life, Michelin recognises that a key area of what makes life special revolves around social interaction with other human beings; and in light of the pandemic, we are continuously finding ways around physical interaction to still bring people together to continue fostering connection, even on a virtual platform,” added Biggart.

The Michelin Virtual Racing Series 2021 will run on the Gran Turismo Sport game on the Sony PlayStation 4, and is officially sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM). For more information or to register for the e-Racing series, head on over to Michelin’s website, linked here.
