Michelin Malaysia has announced via a press release that its Primacy 5 tyre line is now available for Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). Compatible with both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV), this addition completes the lineup, which was previously limited to sedans and hatchbacks.
The new Michelin Primacy 5 SUV tyres feature reinforced sidewalls for improved stability and impact resistance. Michelin also says they are more comfortable and quieter thanks to its Silent Rib Gen-3 technology.
The tyres also offer improved wet braking performance, with a 16% shorter braking distance in both new and worn conditions, based on wet moose test results. Additionally, durability is enhanced through MaxTouch technology, which increases the contact patch and evenly distributes forces during acceleration, braking, and cornering for longer service life without compromising safety.
Lastly, Michelin says the new Michelin Primacy 5 SUV tyres are EV-compatible. They feature a high-performance tread compound that reduces rolling resistance by 10%, improving energy efficiency and extending an electric vehicle’s battery range.
Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Managing Director Florentin Odenwald, said, “The extended Michelin Primacy 5 line addresses the SUV and crossover market, which has grown significantly from just 11% of sales in 2010 to 42% in 2025. This extension adds 34 new fitments for 16- to 22-inch wheels, offering a broader range of sizing options to meet diverse vehicle and consumer needs.”

“Malaysia is at an exciting inflexion point, with EV adoption accelerating and SUVs dominating the roads. With the extension of the Michelin Primacy 5 range, we are meeting this shift head on, giving drivers of both electric and conventional SUVs a tyre that delivers on comfort, safety, and efficiency without compromise,” added Florentin.
The Michelin Primacy 5 SUV tyres are now available in 76 sizes for 16- to 22-inch wheels, at all Michelin’s authorised tyre dealers across the country. According to its announcements, the recommended retail prices for the tyres start from RM467 to RM1,639.
