Sales Tax Exemption: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia releases updated price list



Ahead of the commencement of the sales tax exemptions for private vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has now released the updated prices list after sales tax exemption for its models, with reductions across the board ranging from 1.9% to 7.1%.

The Sales Tax Exemption comes under Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s short term economy recovery plan. The exemption period, which begins on 15th June to the 31st December 2020, sees the sales tax on locally-assembled models reduced to zero, while imported units halved to 5%.

The recently-launched trio of compact AMG models sees a reduction of 3.4% (RM13,103) on the A 35 Edition 1 Hatchback, 3.6% (RM16,618) on the A 45S Edition 1 Hatchback, and 3.4% (RM15,086) on the CLA 45S. All three models are fully-imported.

The S450L AMG Line gets the largest reduction, coming in at 7.1% (RM49,775). Although, the newer plug-in hybrid S560e variant is still priced lower at RM646,626, after a 1.9% reduction in price due to the exemption of sales tax. Both of the large executive sedans are locally-assembled.

As for the SUVs, the locally-assembled AMG GLC43 gets the largest reduction in terms of percentage at 6.2% (RM29,282). The recently-updated GLC 200 and GLC 300 gets a 4.5% (RM13,509) and 4.8% (RM16,731) reduction respectively, while the GLC 300 Coupe variant gets a higher reduction at 5.5% (RM23,018).
