NexV Manufacturing and Neta Auto sign CKD agreement, Rembau plant to start operation in 2025

NexV Manufacturing has officially signed the agreement with Neta Auto to cement their working relationship on the new CKD assembly plant in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. The signing ceremony was held during the 2024 Beijing Motor Show. This facility will do more than just assemble vehicles; it will also play a crucial role in developing talent for the burgeoning EV industry.

Built on a 74-acre plot, the first phase of the construction is slated to be completed by August 2024, with assembly machinery set up by October 2024. It’s expected to kick into action in Q1 2025, operating with an annual capacity of 50,000 units across two shifts. Of this capacity, 20,000 will be dedicated to two upcoming models, the Neta Aya and Neta X.

The second phase, which includes the paint and body assembly line, will be completed in 2026. The final phase, involving body press and battery assembly, is expected to be operational by 2028.

During the press conference, Neta General Manager of overseas sales, Allan Zhou has affirmed the brand’s commitment to right-hand drive (RHD) markets by promising one RHD model per year in the future. This could mean the newly launched Neta L rolling off the newly built assembly plant.

Lim Kwee Shyan, Group Executive Director of Careplus Group Berhad, revealed that they will be collaborating closely with the adjoining Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN) Chembong.

The company will help develop an EV-related syllabus for IKTBN Chembong, assisting the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in producing a workforce ready to meet the demands of the EV market. Graduates will be offered training and job opportunities with the company.

Apart from Neta models, the plant will also produce models from other makes. Lim confirmed that Skyworth, another Chinese EV brand, will be rolling off the assembly line. The signing between NexV Manufacturing and Neta will also initiate the creation of the first NEV plant in Malaysia
