All-new Toyota Rush teased for Malaysia, launching 18 October 2018

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), has just teased the imminent launch of the all-new Toyota Rush on their official Facebook page. Based on the teaser image, it is said that seven-seater SUV will make its official appearance on 18 October 2018, one day before the second leg of the Toyota Vios Challenge happening at MAEPS, Serdang.

The Rush will rival the Honda BR-V offering space for seven in a compact package. In Indonesia, the Rush is offered with a 2NR-VE 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder D-VVT engine paired to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic, making 104 hp and 136 Nm on tap. Unlike the Honda, drive is sent exclusively to the rear wheels.

The third-generation SUV gains styling cues from the larger Fortuner and a more rugged appearance all around. The images shown here is the Indonesia-spec that wears the full TRD Sportivo kit that adds a touch of aggression and sportiness to its appearance.

In Indonesia, the Rush is equipped with LED headlamps, 16-inch alloys, automatic climate control, touchscreen head unit, multifunctional steering wheel, eight-speakers, six airbags, Electronic Stability Control as well as seatbelt reminders for all seven seats. If UMWT hopes to compete against the BR-V, they will have to at least offer this much.

The second-generation Toyota Rush has priced just a shade over the RM100k mark in Malaysia, well over the BR-V’s price tag of RM80k to RM87k.
