As our team works on the upcoming video review of the Elantra 1.6-TGDi Sport, the Korean figure which has impressed us leaps and bounds both visually and substantially on a drive to Malacca, Hyundai USA has partnered with Blood Type Racing (BTR) to develop the BTR Edition Elantra Sport Concept for the 2017 SEMA show.
As the single image shows, it will be sure to look as brutal as it drives much like the most extreme IONIQ we shared just recently. Performance has been boosted Torcon carbon air intake, a Pierce Motorsports exhaust system and a Devil’s Own water/methanol injection system. The synergy of these upgrades are supervised by BTR’s custom engine management tuning.
The Elantra is kept grounded by HSD coilover suspension supported by Pierce Motorsports sway bars, strut tower brace and chassis brace. A set of Fella Big Brake kit is tucked beneath the simple yet striking 19-inch SSR GTX01 wheel and Toyo tyre combination.
The extremely-catchy, boy-racer appeal to the Elantra owes credit to the BASF Glasurit Arancio Borealis paint, commonly seen on Lamborghini’s, together with AutoArt’s flared arches and body works to compliment the 9.5 inch wide wheels, APR GTC-200 GT wing and Aerotek custom front, side and rear track-ready lip kit.
“The BTR Edition Elantra Sport takes the Elantra beyond its capable OEM-development roots without sacrificing daily drivability,” said Blood Type Racing, product manager, Sam Lee. “Building upon the well-developed Elantra Sport platform, powertrain and design fundamentals, we’ve given enthusiasts a new vision of where this affordable sport compact wants to go.”
