Malaysia will soon see a second model under Denza, with the company opening registration of interest (ROI) for the all-new Denza B8 4×4, indicating that a local launch is on the horizon.
In the Middle Kingdom, the Denza B8 4×4 is known as the Fangchengbao Bao 8. For those unfamiliar, Fangchengbao is a BYD sub-brand specialising in electrified luxury off-roaders. The Denza B8 4×4 is an absolute unit of an SUV, measuring 5,195 mm long and 1,994 mm wide, 1,905 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. To put that in perspective, the B8 is significantly larger than the Lexus GX 550 across the board. It is even wider than its stablemate, the Denza D9, though the D9 remains slightly longer.
Following a design philosophy called “Future Starship Aesthetics,” the Denza B8 4×4 mixes classic off-road boxiness with a streamlined, aerodynamic finish. It retains the rugged silhouette you’d expect from a 4×4, complete with a rear-mounted spare, but its flush door handles and sleek LED headlights give it a sci-fi appearance.
Taking the “starship” theme literally, the B8 offers an optional roof-mounted drone platform developed with DJI. This is a smart hangar that allows a drone to automatically launch and land from the roof—even while moving—to scout traffic or record your off-road exploits while you drive.

Inside, the Denza B8 4×4 offers a versatile cabin that can be optioned in five-, six-, or seven-seater configurations. For those seeking a first-class experience, the six-seater variant is the highlight, replacing the middle bench with two individual captain’s chairs featuring power adjustment, heating, ventilation, and a massage function.
All of this is housed in an interior that can be configured in three colours and comes with a host of luxury creature comforts. This includes a bespoke 18-speaker Devialet sound system, wood veneer trimmings, and Nappa leather upholstery that covers nearly 90% of the cabin surfaces.
Powering the Denza B8 4×4 is a PHEV powertrain consisting of a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and two electric motors. Combined, this setup produces 748 hp and 760 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, not bad for a SUV that tips the scales at over 3.3 tonnes.
Equipped with a 36.8 kWh Blade battery, the Denza B8 4×4 has a combined total range of 1,200 km (CLTC). Charging is supported with 11 kW AC charging and 120 kW DC charging, allowing it to charge from 30-80% in 16 minutes.
While official local pricing is yet to be announced, don’t expect it to come cheap. Under current MITI regulations, fully imported (CBU) EVs and passenger cars are required to be priced above RM250,000. Considering the Denza D9 already retails between RM299,000 and RM355,000, expect to pay a premium for this larger, more powerful 4×4 when it eventually hits Malaysian showrooms.
