2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser launched in Malaysia – 174 hp, 426 km range, CBU from RM198k

Alongside the Toyota bZ4x and the Toyota Hilux BEV, UMW Toyota has also launched the 2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. Available in only a single variant and CBU from Indonesia, the electric vehicle (EV) SUV is priced at RM198,000 on the road and without insurance.

Being cousins with the Suzuki e Vitara, the 2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser EV measures 4,285 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, 1,640 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm. This puts it in the B-segment SUV category, sized similarly to cars such as the Perodua Traz, the Honda HR-V, and even the Proton X50.

While overseas markets received multiple variants of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, here it is available in only one variant — featuring a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, providing 174 hp and 193 Nm of torque to the front wheels.

Power for the electric systems is supplied via a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which allows for 426 km of WLTP range. Toyota did not mention how much power the car is capable of receiving, but has said that the car is capable of charging from 15-80% in 50 minutes via DC charging. The car is also capable of 7 kW of AC charging, which fully charges the car from 15-100% in 9.5 hours.

To make the driving experience a bit more personalised, the car also comes with three driving modes: ECO, Normal, and Sport. Being an EV, the car also supports one-pedal driving via its “Pedal Mode”. Three deceleration levels are available for drivers to adjust the intensity of the deceleration. There is also a “My Mode”, which allows drivers to use the air-conditioning and audio system while charging the car.
