Denza is BYD’s luxury sub-brand, and the Z9 GT, confirmed for Malaysia, is a pretty nice wagon with up to 1,156 hp (850 kW). Apparently, Chopard, a luxury Swiss watch and jewellery maker, thinks it can make the Denza Z9 GT even posher. This led to a one-off Denza Z9 GT Chopard Edition, which was donated to the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. There, it was auctioned off, fetching an astounding USD815,000 (approx. RM3.2 million), with all proceeds going directly to fund AIDS research.
So, what justifies that eye-watering sticker price? The luxury treatment sees Chopard individually hand-fitting machine-polished, genuine amethyst stones directly into the 17.3-inch infotainment display bezel, surrounding dashboard controls, and even the powered seat switches.
The Swiss watchmaker also extended this bespoke treatment to the upholstery, embroidering the Chopard ‘C’ onto both the headrests and the ‘light carpet’ projected alongside the car.

To make things even more special, Chopard threw in a matching “His & Hers” dual watch set. The pairing consists of a Happy Sport 36 mm in 18-carat Ethical rose gold snow-set with diamonds for her, and an Alpine Eagle 41 mm with Denza personalisation on the case back for him. Rounding things out, the transaction includes a suite of bespoke travel luggage handcrafted by Shiro, designed to match a custom paint job featuring gold accents across the car’s exterior and interior.

However, expect the Z9 GT bound for Malaysia not to come with these opulent trimmings, and instead feature a more normal appearance. It remains to be seen what powertrain the Z9 GT in Malaysia will be equipped with, as in China, the estate is available with either a BEV or a PHEV powertrain.
Two variants of the BEV are available, the first being a rear-wheel drive powertrain making 503 hp (370 kW) and 500 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds. This variant can be paired to two batteries in 102.3 kWh and 122.5 kWh, offering a range of 880 km and 1,034 km, respectively, according to the optimistic CLTC test cycle.
The range-topping variant is the one with 1,156 hp (850 kW) and 1,210 Nm from an all-wheel drive powertrain, achieving the century sprint in 2.7 seconds, and a range of 820 km (CLTC) from a 122.5 kWh battery.
On the other hand, the PHEV variant sees a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine making 207 hp and 325 Nm. This is paired to two traction motors that produce 870 hp (640 kW) and 1,032 Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Equipped with a 63.8 kWh battery, the PHEV variant of the Denza Z9 GT has a pure EV range of 401 km (CLTC) and a combined range of 1,301 km (CLTC).
It remains to be seen how much the Denza Z9 GT will hurt a bank account when it launches in Malaysia, but it certainly won’t be a cheap purchase. The company recently launched the all-new Denza B8 locally, and that 612 hp PHEV SUV is priced from RM458,800 to RM518,800. Perhaps that gives us a ballpark on the sort of premium price tag the high-performance Z9 GT will command from bosses locally.
