Denza Malaysia has launched the all-new Denza B8 in Malaysia, joining the Denza D9 as the second model from BYD’s luxury sub-brand in the local market. Two variants are available, with prices starting from RM459,939, on-the-road, without insurance.

In China, the Denza B8 is known as the Fangchengbao Bao 8. Fangchengbao is a BYD sub-brand specialising in electrified luxury off-roaders, which explains the Denza B8’s rugged and boxy styling, including the externally mounted spare tyre. As a large SUV, it measures 5,195 mm long, 1,994 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. For context, the B8 is significantly larger than the Lexus GX 550. It’s even wider than its stablemate, the Denza D9, although the D9 remains slightly longer.

Inside, the Denza B8 offers a choice of either a six- or seven-seater interior, depending on the chosen variant. The six-seater model features captain chairs in the second row, complete with leg rests, ventilation, and massage functions.

As standard, the second-row seats in the B8 are power-adjustable, and the third-row seats can be electrically folded into the rear boot floor. Rear boot space is rated at 147 to 920 litres for the seven-seater and up to 902 litres for the six-seater.

Upfront, the Denza B8 is equipped with a 17.3-inch centre infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a 12.3-inch LCD digital gauge cluster, and a night vision system.

The Denza B8 is powered by a series-parallel ‘Super Hybrid’ powertrain. It comprises a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine making 145 hp/350 Nm and two traction motors, delivering a combined output of 612 hp (450 kW) and 760 Nm to a four-wheel drive system, allowing a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds and a fuel consumption of 9.89 L/100 km.

Both variants are equipped with a 36.8 kWh BYD Blade battery, providing a pure EV range of 115 km (NEDC) and a combined range of 1,040 km (NEDC) with a full tank and charge. It supports 11 kW AC and 120 kW DC charging, the latter enabling a 30-80% recharge in 16 minutes. The Denza B8 also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability at 6.6 kW, enabling users to power external devices.

Furthermore, the Denza B8 features the ‘DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System’, allowing it to adapt to various terrains for improved ride and comfort. The suspension also enables 140 mm of height adjustment, providing approach and departure angles of 34 degrees and 35 degrees, respectively, and a maximum water wading depth of 890 mm.
