BYD has teased two upcoming models from its Ocean Series lineup, namely the BYD Seal 08 sedan and BYD Sealion 08 SUV. According to CarNewsChina, both models are expected to debut in the first quarter of 2026 as flagship electric vehicles positioned above the current Seal and Sealion 7 models.

So far, BYD has yet to reveal any information apart from the teaser images shown during the presentation. The images show only their general silhouette and lighting signatures, with the rest of the car covered in a heavy shadow overcast.

BYD Ocean S Concept

While detailed specs are still under wraps, reports have suggested that both the Seal 08 and Sealion 08 will be based on the Ocean S concept, which premiered at the Auto Shanghai 2025 motor show, and will feature BYD’s Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language.

The silhouettes of the Seal 08 and Sealiaon 08 in the teaser show-off their sleek, elongated proportions, which align with the design of the Ocean S concept, and hint at a larger footprint for these upcoming models.

The report noted that BYD had previously registered the Seal 08 with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) back in February 2025 (as pictured above). That MIIT-listed model, however, went on sale as the BYD Seal 06 sedan in China, as well as in selected overseas markets such as Malaysia (where the car is known as the Seal 6).

The Seal 06 sedan measures 4,720 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. This places it firmly in the C-segment sedan category, measuring slightly larger than key rivals such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda 3.

According to CarNewsChina, industry insiders claim that the Sealion 08 will measure around 5,040 mm in length with a wheelbase of approximately 2,950 mm, enabling a 2-3-2 seven-seat layout. This places it in the same ballpark as other large SUVs such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Palisade, and the Mazda CX-80

While no details for the Seal 08 sedan have surfaced yet, the SUV’s reported dimensions suggest that its sedan counterpart could adopt a similarly large footprint, albeit being sleek due to its lower, more streamlined proportions.
