Updated 2025 BYD Seal launched in Malaysia — 2 variants from RM172k, base Dynamic variant axed

BYD Sime Motors has launched the new 2025 BYD Seal in Malaysia, which introduces several equipment upgrades and updated internals. The fully electric sedan is back to being offered in just two variants — the Premium and Performance — priced at RM171,800 and RM191,800, respectively, with the previous entry-level Dynamic variant now discontinued.

The 2025 model is a spec-bump update, rather than a facelift, as such visual changes are only found in the shoes they wear. Both the Premium and Performance variants receive a redesigned set of 19-inch wheels, with the latter fitted with exclusive red-painted brake callipers.

Along with a new Shark Grey colour being added, the storage capacity for the under-bonnet “boot” has also been increased to 53 litres, up from 50 litres in the previous model year.

Inside, the BYD Seal sports a new powered sunshade for its panoramic sunroof, while the brand’s signature 15.6-inch rotating infotainment display and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are here to stay on both variants. The centre touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, two Qi wireless chargers, and a new sunglass holder for added convenience.

The biggest change for the 2025 BYD Seal is found underneath, where the range-topping Performance variant now comes with the DiSus-C adaptive suspension system — similar to the setup found in the Denza D9, but retuned here for agility rather than comfort.

Compared to passive suspensions, BYD says the new continuous damping control system effectively reduces pitching motion under hard acceleration by up to 12%, hard braking nose-dive motion by up to 36.7%, and lateral body roll movements by up to 39.7%. Meanwhile, the Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) system from last year’s Performance variant has been handed down to the Premium variant.

With the Dynamic variant axed from the lineup for 2025, the Premium variant is once again the starting point for the BYD Seal in Malaysia. Its powertrain here remains unchanged, consisting of a single motor on the rear axle that produces 313 hp (230 kW) and 360 Nm of torque.

Moving up the range, the Performance variant adds a second motor at the front axle for a combined 530 hp (390 kW) and 670 Nm of torque. With power sent to all four wheels, it sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

Both variants also retain the same 82.56 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which translates to 570 km and 520 km of range respectively, based on the WLTP test cycle. To charge, both variants support AC charging at 7 kW and DC fast charging at 150 kW, the latter enabling a 30-80% top-up in 37 minutes.

All variants of the 2025 BYD Seal will come standard with the brand’s advanced driver safety assistance systems (ADAS) suite. This includes features such as:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Automatic emergency braking system (AEB)
  • Lane Detection Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Departure Prevention System (LDP)
  • and Emergency Lane Keeping System (ELKA)

Prices for the new 2025 BYD Seal start from RM171,800 for the Premium, and RM191,800 for the Performance, both on-the-road, and without insurance. The new prices mark a RM8k reduction from the outgoing model for both variants, and includes a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty, and an eight-year/150,00km drive unit warranty.

In conjunction with the launch, BYD Sime Motors is offering a launch promotion package valued at up to RM10,888 for the first 300 customers of the facelifted BYD Seal. This includes a free wall charger, an exclusive launch rebate, as well as a free-service package.
