Leapmotor C10 ferries Batik Air Business Class passengers in KLIA

Batik Air has teamed up with Stellantis Malaysia to reintroduce the Private Terminal Transfer service for its Business Class passengers. Five units of the Leapmotor C10 are now in service at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), chauffeuring Batik Air Business Class passengers between Gate G1 at the Main Terminal Building and Gate C1 at the Satellite Building.

Like the Mercedes-Benz EQS500 and S580e (and previously the BMW i7) used to ferry Malaysia Airlines Business Class passengers, the Leapmotor C10 electric vehicles (EV) will complement the existing shuttle buses provided by Malaysia Airports (MAHB) during the “temporary suspension” of the Aerotrain service.

The companies did not reveal the duration these cars will be in service at the airport, although it was reported earlier this year that the new Aerotrain will begin operations in Q2 2025, after the service was halted in 2022 for a train and system replacement project.

Speaking on the partnership, Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said, “Travel should be effortless, and at Batik Air, we believe our Business Class guests deserve nothing less. This VIP Transfer Service isn’t just about moving between terminals – it’s about redefining the journey with innovation, care, and a touch of exclusivity.”

Stellantis ASEAN Managing Director, Isaac Yeo added, “The Leapmotor C10 redefines premium travel, delivering unparalleled comfort and sophistication for discerning passengers. This exceptional electric SUV embodies our vision for environmentally responsible mobility while offering a seamless and refined experience – both on the road and beyond the airport tarmac.”

The Leapmotor C10, launched in Malaysia in October last year at RM159,700, is the brand’s first global EV model after a partnership between Stellantis and the Chinese carmaker. Here, the D-segment SUV is offered in a single variant, with a single motor on the rear axle producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds, onward to a top speed of 170 km/h. A 69.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack translates to a WLTP-rated range of 424 km.

Batik Air Business Class customers will be able to enjoy the ample interior cabin space, featuring “segment-leading legroom and headroom” for the rear occupants. The Oeke-tex silicone-based vegan leather upholstery offers a soft and supple feel, while also certified to be eco-friendly and dermatologically safe for younger passengers.
