New Michelin Primacy 5 tyres launched in Malaysia – 16 to 19-inch, priced from RM477

Michelin Malaysia has launched the all-new Michelin Primacy 5 touring tyres, which the company says is designed for passenger cars and crossovers, catering to both internal combustion engine (ICE) and fully electric (EV) vehicles. This new tyre, the successor to the Michelin Primacy 4, boasts several significant upgrades.

Firstly, Michelin highlights a new tread pattern design on the Primacy 5, incorporating the company’s “Silent Rib Gen-3” technology. This innovation effectively reduces vibrations and noise, ensuring a more comfortable and refined ride.

Furthermore, Michelin claims the Primacy 5 tyres offer a 24% increase in mileage compared to other premium brands. This extended tread life is attributed to “MaxTouch technology,” which optimises road contact for enhanced durability.

For improved safety in wet conditions, the “Functional Elastomers 3.0,” featuring Michelin’s “EverGrip” and “EverTread Technologies,” optimises water evacuation, resulting in shorter braking distances.

EV owners will also benefit from the Primacy 5’s design. Michelin claims that the tyre compound reduces rolling resistance by 13%, leading to improved energy consumption and extended EV range.

The all-new Michelin Primacy 5 tyres are now available in Malaysia in 25 sizes, ranging from 16- to 19-inches, at all Michelin-authorised tyre dealers nationwide. All 18-inch and above tyres feature aesthetically enhanced sidewalls with a full-ring velvet line, similar to the Michelin Pilot Sport 5.

Prices for the Michelin Primacy 5 range from RM477 to RM1,026 per tyre. As part of the launch promotion, from January 6th to April 9th, 2025, customers who purchase at least two Michelin tyres of any size from participating Michelin dealerships will have a chance to win a brand-new 2025 Tesla Model Y Facelift.
