The BYD M6 has been launched in Indonesia at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Offered in three seating configurations, the M6 comes with a price tag of 379,000,000 rupiah (approx. RM110k) for the standard 7-seater model, and 419,000,000 rupiah (approx. RM121k) for the Superior variant (seven-seater configuration). Customers who opt for a 6-seater with a middle-row captain seat (only available with the Superior variant) will need to fork out 429,000,000 rupiah (approx. RM124k).
The new model shares a platform with the existing BYD E6, but features a distinct design and enhanced performance.

The M6 features a refreshed exterior design, adopting the latest BYD corporate aesthetic. The front end has been redesigned with a prominent silver bar connecting the redesigned multi-projector LED headlights. The bumper incorporates a wing-shaped insert that seamlessly integrates with the slim air intakes and chrome accents.
The rear of the new model features a redesigned taillight assembly with a full-width light bar accentuated by a slim chrome strip, replacing the previous “Build Your Dreams” badge with a simpler BYD emblem. The lower bumper area now incorporates a chrome strip, adding a touch of sophistication. The vehicle rolls on standard 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels.

The base model of the BYD M6 now features a more powerful electric motor, upgraded from 94 hp to 161 hp. Torque output has also increased from 180 Nm to 310 Nm. The higher-spec model utilizes the same electric motor found in the BYD Atto 3, delivering 201 hp. These powertrain enhancements enable acceleration times of 10.1 seconds and 8.6 seconds for the base and higher-spec models, respectively, when accelerating from zero to 100 km/h.
The M6 is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The standard model features a 55.4 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated range of 420 km based on the NEDC standard. The higher-spec variant utilizes a larger 71.8 kWh battery pack, enabling an extended range of up to 530 km. Both models support DC fast charging, with the standard model capable of accepting up to 89 kW of power, while the higher-spec variant can handle up to 115 kW. Charging from 10% to 80% battery capacity takes approximately 40 minutes for the higher-spec model. AC charging is limited to 7 kW for both variants.

The interior of the updated model retains the familiar horizontal dashboard layout and analog instrument cluster, though with subtle refinements such as a modernized “Build Your Dreams” inscription. A new wood-effect trim adorns the dashboard, while the center console features a redesigned gear selector replacing the previous rotary knob. The most notable change is the larger, powered rotating central display, now measuring 12.8 inches compared to the previous 10.1-inch unit. Apple CarPlay connectivity remains a standard feature.
The vehicle comes equipped with a range of standard features, including keyless entry, push-button start, a hands-free key card, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, synthetic leather upholstery, a vehicle-to-load charging function, a 360-degree camera system, and a six-speaker audio system. The higher-end trim level adds roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, wireless device charging, and a power-operated tailgate.

Safety-wise, the M6 comes with six airbags, stability control, and a door opening warning. However, only the Superior variant gets any form of advanced driver assistance such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, blind spot monitoring, and automatic high beam.
