Just in case you didn’t know, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) opened the order books for the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire early last month. But due to high demand, the luxury MPVs have since quickly sold out, resulting in customers having to wait for at least a year to get the keys to their cars. And now, the luxury boss carriers have just made their official launch up north over in Thailand, with prices starting from THB4,129,000 (approx. RM540,744) all the way to THB4,499,000 (approx. RM589,201).
A total of two variants are offered with the Toyota Alphard (Alphard 2.5 HEV and Alphard 2.5 HEV Luxury), while the Vellfire is offered in a sole variant at the Land of Smiles. Powering both the luxury MPVs across the range is the 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain, which is also available in the Indonesian-spec Alphard.

On the outside, the Thai-spec Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are equipped as standard with kits such as automatic LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lights, LED tail lights, electric side sliding doors, and a powered tailgate. Wheels-wise, the base-spec Alphard 2.5 HEV is fitted with a set of 17-inch alloys, while the higher-spec Alphard 2.5 HEV Luxury and Vellfire both get 19-inch alloys.
As mentioned above, both the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are powered by Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid system across the range, as compared to the 2.4-litre turbocharged and 2.5-litre NA engines we will be getting with the Malaysian-spec Alphard and Vellfire respectively. Making up the mild hybrid system is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder Dynamic Force engine that makes 190 hp (metric) and 236 Nm on its own, alongside a 5 Nm electric motor that puts our 182 hp (metric) and 270 Nm by itself.

Powering the electric motors is a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery, rated at 5 Ah. Mmated to the hybrid system is an E-CVT, this setup allows power to be sent either to the front wheels only or all four wheels via the brand’s hybrid E-Four AWD system, contributing to a system output of 250 hp. Additionally, the rear wheels also gain an extra 4 Nm electric motor that pushes our 54 hp (metric) and 121 Nm whenever needed.
Inside, both the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire in Thailand are 6-seaters with a 2-2-2 layout. All three variants are fitted with leather upholstery, with the front seats being electrically adjustable, featuring memory, heating, and ventilation functions.

Moving to the second row, you will find two electrically adjustable memory captain seats with Ottoman cushions. These seats are equipped with massage and ventilating functions, alongside a detachable control panel on the armrests that enables occupants in the car to control media playback, climate control settings, and also the sunshade.
Up front, both the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire come with a 12.3-inch instrument display, as well as a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Bosses travelling in the luxury MPVs can also enjoy music using the 15-speaker JBL audio system.
Additionally, the all-new Thai-spec Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are also equipped with twin moonroofs and electrically adjustable side window sunshades for the second- and third-row occupants. Also included are the 64-colour ambient lighting system, and a phone wireless charger.

On the safety department, the all-new Toyota Alphard and Vellfire over at the Land of Smiles come as standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite. This includes safety features such as forward collision warning (FCW), pre-collision braking system (PCS), all-speed dynamic radar cruise control (All-speed DRCC), lane departure warning (LDW), lane departure assist (LDA), and automatic high-beam function (AHB). Other safety equipment found here consists of the blind spot monitoring system (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
