BYD Sime Motors have announced that the recently facelifted 2026 BYD Atto 3 has now received over 1,000 bookings in just 10 days since its launch . The company boasts that “history is repeating itself” as the achievement mirrors the model’s success following its initial debut in 2022.
The company says that the warm reception reaffirms the appeal of the BYD Atto 3 as one of Malaysia’s most popular electric vehicles (EV). Accounting for total sales, BYD says it is the country’s best-selling EV with more than 12,000 units delivered to date.
To mark the milestone, the company held a handover ceremony at its Bandar Utama showroom to celebrate the new Atto 3’s 1,000th customer. While the carmaker did not disclose which variant was the milestone vehicle, it revealed that the newly introduced rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Premium variant has attracted the strongest interest since its launch.
BYD Malaysia Managing Director, Jacob Ma, said, “Seeing such a positive response within days of the launch is an incredible milestone that reflects the evolving expectations of Malaysian motorists. Today’s drivers are increasingly seeking vehicles that seamlessly combine technology, convenience and everyday usability, and the 2026 BYD Atto 3 delivers on this. This strong start reaffirms the BYD Atto 3’s position as a favourite in Malaysia’s EV landscape.”

The new 2026 BYD Atto 3 is available in two variants. The Ultra is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds. Paired with a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade Battery, it delivers a driving range of up to 420 km (WLTP, 480 km NEDC).
The Premium variant upgrades to a rear-mounted electric motor producing 313 hp (230 kW) and 380 Nm, reducing the 0-100 km/h sprint to 5.5 seconds. It is paired with a larger 74.88 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 510 km (WLTP, 600 km NEDC).
Compared to the previous model year, the Atto 3 Ultra remains mechanically unchanged. The Premium variant, however, gains an additional 109 hp and 70 Nm over its predecessor, while offering a 90 km increase in WLTP-rated driving range.
For charging, the Ultra supports AC charging at up to 7 kW and DC fast charging at up to 110 kW. The Premium raises this to 11 kW AC and 220 kW DC charging. Both variants also feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality with a maximum output of 3.3 kW, allowing external appliances to be powered directly from the vehicle.
The 2026 BYD Atto 3 is priced from RM126,660 for the Ultra and RM139,835 for the Premium, with prices quoted on-the-road without insurance. Although early-bird promotions were limited to the first 500 customers, the model continues to be offered with an eight-year free service package. Warranty coverage includes a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, and an eight-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty.
