The Omoda C7 has been previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Unlike the Chery Omoda 5 from before, the C7 will instead be launched under the standalone “Omoda” brand, bundled under the new Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia entity following the company’s brand restructure that was announced today.
The Omoda C7 is a C-segment SUV that previously made its first ASEAN appearance at the Bangkok International Motor Show last year. It slots right in between the Omoda C9 and Omoda 5, and is very similar in terms of size with its Jaecoo J7 cousin.

The exterior features an understated look, much more similar in philosophy as the C9 with cleaner lines and smoother curves, rather than the aggressively-styled Omoda 5. While the front sports a mild resemblance to the Lexus Spindle Grille, the rear fascia is unmistakably Omoda Jaecoo-like, especially with the taillight design and wave-like kink on the D-pillar.
Differentiating itself from its other SUV siblings and cousins, the Omoda C7’s interior takes a bolder approach with a distinct gaming-inspired design. The seats are supposedly modelled after gaming chairs, while the steering wheel draws inspiration from video game console controllers, creating an immersive and futuristic cabin atmosphere.

A standout feature is the heads-up display, which boasts up to 110,000 nits of brightness – ensuring clear visibility even under intense sunlight. Complementing the tech-forward ambiance is an intelligent fragrance system, a 12+2 speaker audio setup, and advanced environmental noise cancellation that effectively blocks up to 90% of external noise.
Perhaps the most striking element is the sliding 15.6-inch centre infotainment display, with a 2.5k resolution and up to 1,000 nits of brightness. Running on a Snapdragon 8155 chipset with ample amounts of ram and internal storage, it’ll most definitely run demanding (Android) games without breaking a sweat – your passenger will thank you on long road trips.

The Omoda C7 is equipped with four surround-view cameras that provide a “540-degree” panoramic view, allowing drivers to see the ground beneath the vehicle when parking. Complementing this is a suite of ultrasonic and 12 mm radars, enabling the car to detect eight distinct road conditions and supports up to 18 different ADAS features.
While the model previewed in our neighbours up North is equipped with a Super Hybrid System powertrain, the model shown here is seemingly a pure petrol model, with only one fuel filler flap sans charging – a set-up never before seen globally.

We’d wager that it’ll likely feature the same 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four mill as seen on its Jaecoo J7 cousin, which pumps out 197 hp and 290 Nm, with power sent to either the front or all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
As for the aforementioned hybrid, it’s also a very similar set up to the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired to an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission – but here slightly uprated to make a combined total system output of 360 hp and 530 Nm.
The car boasts a drag coefficient of 0.298 Cd, which contributes to its total driving range of over 1,250 km as proven by travelling from Frankfurt to Rome in a promotional stunt. On the electric side, the 18.3 kWh BYD-sourced Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery gives it 95 km of pure electric range.
No details have been shared about the Omoda C7’s pricing or tentative launch date just yet. That said, registrations of interest is now open for the model, so we expect it to be launched here in Malaysia pretty soon – probably not too long after the launch of the Jaecoo J8 here in Malaysia.
