New Chery sub-brand LEPAS charts its global future with L6 and L4 EVs

LEPAS might be one of the youngest brands under the Chery umbrella, but they’ve still got big dreams. Aiming for the worldwide market, LEPAS has just unveiled the L4 and L6 EVs at the ongoing 2026 Beijing motor show, which will serve as the blueprint for its new global NEV strategy.

To differentiate itself from the many brands within the Chery Group, LEPAS’ models will heavily rely on its “elegance” core styling concept – which the brand calls the Leopard Aesthetics – both inside and out – and indeed across the technological surfaces as well.

Both of these new models are built on the brand’s dedicated LEX intelligent new energy platform, which promises a “smooth, composed, and premium driving experience” thanks to their battery-motor-electronic control systems, intelligent cockpit, and advanced driver assistance features.

LEPAS says that more models on the LEX platform will be coming soon, too, which will cover “multiple segments from compact to mid-to-large vehicles”.

For its current lineup, the LEPAS L6 EV will likely be its main volume seller, coming in in the C-segment SUV category. Designed for families and urban professionals, the company says, the LEPAS L6 EV focuses on a versatile, “life-oriented” user experience, with a design that’ll command the attention of other road users too.

To that end, it features a low-slung, wide-body stance, made even more apparent by the signature “Hunting Eye” headlights, wide grille and blacked-out headlight housings, a full-width tail light, plus a smooth and sculpted body work on the sides.

On the technology front. the LEPAS L6 EV is equipped with the group’s VPD (valet parking driver) autonomous parking assistance system, H-NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) semi-autonomous driving system, and even a Super AI Agent to make in-car operations more intuitive, and the driving experience even easier.

Much of the same attention to detail in styling is also applied to the LEPAS L4 EV, albeit on a smaller body. Here, the design motif is dubbed “Hunting Motion”, utilising more contrasting body colours throughout to make the compact crossover stand out even more, especially in urban environments.

Despite its smaller footprint, LEPAS says the L4 EV still delivers a composed and confident driving experience, courtesy to the multi-link independent rear suspension, globally-tuned chassis, and a full suite of ADAS systems (21 individual features!) and connected car technologies.

The LEPAS L4 is powered a 218 hp (160 kW) motor, and when paired to a range of around 500 km from a single charge, alongside fast charging capabilities, it should meet the needs of most users be it for daily commuting or weekend trips.

As the pioneering models for the marque’s new global NEV strategy, LEPAS says that the two models cater to different segments while still jointly embodying the brand’s character of elegance, exquisiteness, and confidence.

Intrigued? The good news is they both should be making their way to Malaysia very, very soon, and in a variety of powertrain options too – so keep your eyes peeled.
