Nissan Kicks e-Power facelift launched in Thailand with new looks, more power – coming to Malaysia next?

Nissan has officially launched the updated Kicks e-Power in Thailand. Available in V, VL, and SV variants, prices range from THB789,900 (approx. RM96k) to THB899,900 (approx. RM109k).

While international markets like the Americas and the Middle East move toward an all-new second-generation model with pure petrol powertrains, the new Nissan Kicks e-Power in Thailand is actually a significant restyling of the current generation. It features an exterior that resembles the Nissan Kait, introduced for the Latin American market. This updated design adopts a more rugged aesthetic, departing from the softer, more rounded lines of the outgoing model.

The front features a new split-headlight design integrated into the bumper and a revised grille, while the rear gains updated taillights, a restyled bumper, and a bold “KICKS” wordmark. The look is completed by new 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Kicks moves away from the Almera-shared dashboard in favour of a new layout. This includes a seven-inch digital gauge cluster and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other additions include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad, and zero-gravity front seats.

The range-topping SV variant gains the NissanConnect telematics suite, allowing owners to remotely start the engine and pre-cool the cabin via their smartphones. Beyond climate control, the app provides remote door locking, a GPS “My Car Finder,” and security alerts for theft or speeding. It also serves as a safety hub, featuring a dedicated SOS button for emergency assistance and real-time vehicle health monitoring, including maintenance reminders and tyre pressure alerts.

Under the bonnet, the Thai-spec Kicks utilises the same series-hybrid setup found in Malaysia, featuring a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder engine making 82 hp/103 Nm, acting as an onboard generator. However, the Thai motor is more powerful, producing 136 hp (100 kW) and 280 Nm—a 7 hp increase over the Malaysian model. Fuel consumption is rated at 25 km/L (NEDC), an improvement over the 21.7 km/L claimed for the Malaysian model.

The safety features of the new Nissan Kicks e-Power are expanded to include predictive forward collision warning, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind spot intervention. Additional features include rear automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, and lead car departure alert. Unlike the Malaysian-spec, the Thai model also includes a tyre pressure monitoring system.

With the new Nissan Kicks e-Power launched in Thailand, could the refreshed crossover make its way to Malaysia next? The pre-update Nissan Kicks e-Power is offered in three variants, priced from RM113,800 to RM128,800, and is fully-imported (CBU) from Thailand. While Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) only introduced the Nissan Kicks e-Power locally in late 2024, it is possible that ETCM could introduce this more powerful, rugged model as a mid-life update for the local Nissan Kicks e-Power in the future.
