The Geely EX5, the international sibling of the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) in Thailand, has gained a new range-topping variant called the Max+. This addition brings the total number of variants offered in Thailand to three, joining the existing Pro and Max variants. Fully imported (CBU) from China, the Geely EX5 Max+ is priced at THB899,000 (approx. RM109k), as reported by Autolife Thailand.
Unlike the Pro and Max variants, which are equipped with a 60.22 kWh Aegis Short Blade LFP battery pack providing a range of 495 km (NEDC), the Max+ variant is equipped with a larger 68.39 kWh battery. This increases the range to 525 km (NEDC), or 450 km according to the stricter WLTP test cycle.
This larger battery is paired with the same powertrain, which is a front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. Charging specifications remain the same, with AC charging supported at 11 kW and DC charging supported at 100 kW, taking 20 minutes to charge from 30-80%.
Other changes on the Geely EX5 Max+ include it being equipped with larger 19-inch alloy wheels, whereas the existing two variants ride on 18-inch items. The rest of the equipment remains unchanged from before.

Notably, Thailand is the first market to receive the larger 68.39 kWh battery before Australia. We reported earlier, based on local certification documents sighted by Drive, that the Geely EX5 there is also slated to receive the larger battery pack in 2026.
Closer to home, the Proton eMAS 7 has also been updated following the start of local assembly (CKD) for 2026. The update introduces a hands-free powered tailgate as standard equipment across the range, alongside an upgraded ADAS safety suite for the Premium variant. The powertrain, however, remains completely unchanged from before.
It remains to be seen when the Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) will receive a larger battery pack, as the model is currently offered with a 49.52 kWh unit enabling a range of 345 km (WLTP, and a 60.22 kWh battery, which increases the range to 410 km (WLTP).
With the smaller 49.52 kWh battery now discontinued in China, it is possible that Proton could introduce a new variant of the eMAS 7 featuring the larger 68.39 kWh battery as the new range-topping option or move to offer the larger pack as the sole battery option for the local market. Ultimately, any shift in the line-up depends on the remaining availability of the 49.52 kWh battery supply produced by Geely itself in China.
